Marie Antoinette Grey Series No.1 is the first in a series of three plates that center around the infamous portrait of Marie Antoinette, age 13 painter in 1767 by the Swedish-Austrian artist, Martin van Meytens. The portrait was commissioned to be sent to the Dauphin of France, her husband-to-be, (of similar age), so that he could see what his future wife looked like. No. 1 in this series, this plate starts off with Marie Antoinette amidst three huge teardrop diamonds and two opals, set against a grey silk moire background. The Marie Antoinette Grey Series No.2 is the second in a series of three plates centering around the infamous portrait of Marie Antoinette, at age 13,  painted in 1767 by the Swedish-Austrian artist, Martin van Meytens. The portrait was commissioned to be sent to the Dauphin of France, her husband-to-be, (of similar age), so that he could see what his future wife looked like. This plate features Marie Antoinette appearing three times, amidst teardrop diamonds and opals, with the addition of two oversize pearl and diamond brooches, set in gold (probable circa 1800s), set against the grey silk moire background.
